Tres Leches

This is a traditional Mexican cake soaked in three different milks and topped with sweet whipped cream and dusted with cinnamon. It is also great served with fresh berries!

INGREDIENTS

1 ½ cups of all purpose flour

1 tsp. of baking powder

½ cup of unsalted butter, softened

1 cup of granulated sugar

5 large whole eggs

½ tsp of vanilla extract

1 cup of half and half

1(14oz) can of sweetened condensed milk

1(12oz) can of evaporated milk

1 ½ cup of heavy cream

1 cup granulated sugar

1 tsp. of vanilla extract

INGREDIENTS

1 ½ cups of all purpose flour

1 tsp. of baking powder

½ cup of unsalted butter, softened

1 cup of granulated sugar

5 large whole eggs

½ tsp of vanilla extract

1 cup of half and half

1(14oz) can of sweetened condensed milk

1(12oz) can of evaporated milk

1 ½ cup of heavy cream

1 cup granulated sugar

1 tsp. of vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350° F. Grease and flour one 9x13 baking pan.
  2. Sift together flour and baking powder.
  3. Cream butter and first sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and beat well.
  4. Add vanilla extract.
  5. Add flour mixture to butter mixture a little at a time, scrape batter between additions.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 350°F for 30 minutes until set.
  7. Remove from oven, cool 5 minutes then pierce several times with a fork.
  8. Combine whole milk, condensed milk and evaporated milk together and pour over cooled cake.
  9. Refrigerate cake for one house to let the milk absorb.
  10. Whip heavy cream and second sugar until thick, add vanilla extract.
  11. Spread over top of cooled cake. Dust with cinnamon.
  12. Slice and serve. *Cake will be milky*
